Air

The Air that we breathe is considered sacred by cultures across the globe; these traditions refer to the ongoing exchange as Pranayama, as well as of course invoking the notion of the ‘breath of life’ which animated the First Man in the Garden of Eden, and of the first syllable ‘Om’ which birthed all creation.

Air symbolises our rational intelligence as is expresses the soul, whether as atman or anima, and is entirely dependent on its interrelationship with the cosmic breath of Brahman or the oversoul.

As Macauley describes, ‘we are conspiring – literally breathing together' and it is the air which makes possible the advanced patterns of human speech as it conducts and modulates our intentions.

Here, our breath becomes the tool, our bodies the technology, through which we might express the Universal Will, just as logic provides a home to reason, and epistemology expresses itself through the word.
